Northern Cascades Full Day Elopement

the dreamiest summer solstice intimate mountain wedding

I met Kenzi and Ryan a couple of years ago when they adventured with me for a couples session. They are just the most kind, warm, loving couple ever and we have had some truly epic adventures (see their engagement session in Utah HERE), so when we chatted about their wedding, I knew it was going to be an EPIC day!

I met up with them the day before when they were getting ready for their Cowboy dinner from Sun Mountain Lodge. I wasn't originally scheduled to capture the dinner, but after hearing all about it, I knew that it was a piece of their story that needed some documentation.

All of their guests piled into horse drawn carriages and made their way through stunning countryside that ended at the old homestead. The rain might have dampened other peoples spirits, but not this group! They just took it in stride and had the best time ever!

Kenzi & Ryan were incredibly intentional with all of their decisions, from their wedding date to their vendors. June 22, 2023 was the summer solstice, making it the longest day of the year. And if you are asking if we made the most of it...yes, yes we did.

The day started with an early morning (hello 3:30am) wake-up call. Kenzi, Ryan, Jade (their gorgeous pup) and I met up and hiked to the top of a near by mountain, having to pass through a herd of horses in the dark on the way. As the sun came up Kenzi and Ryan shared their first look-it actually gives me goose bumps thinking about that magical moment.

After watching the sun fully awaken, we made oatmilk matcha lattes and snacked on some nummy bakery items and protein bars, and then headed back down to grab a quick nap before the rest of the festivities.

After their private sunrise first look and portraits, most of us grabbed a little nap (just not Kenzi-she was a rock star!!) and then met up at their lake house to capture their intimate wedding day.

While Kenzi was having her hair and makeup done, I was capturing her and Ryan's details and flat lays. I popped over to Ryan's cabin to get the guys before they headed out to the ceremony location.

After about an hour drive on Forest Service roads, we all arrived at the ceremony, complete with the most amazing mountain views. Their best friend Tommy officiated and had everyone in tears, with both laughter and sentiment.

The reception was held back at their lakeside cabins and we all celebrated in the most perfect way-an amazing dinner, fun dancing and the so much love and laughter.

This was one of the longest days I have experienced as a photographer, and I wouldn't change a minute of it! I will remember this day forever.
